Benefit of a Green Home
"The single largest consumption of energy goes to heating and cooling buildings." Joseph Lstiburek, Ph.D., P. Eng., Building Science, Inc.
What does going Green really mean?
Forget what you may have heard. It's the energy! 40% of all energy consumption in America goes to heating and cooling buildings. Transportattion is a distant second at 30%. Thanks to lithium ion batteries, hybrids(electric vehicles with gasoline back-up) have arrived. As the transportation sector begins to compete with the housing industry for electricity, housing utility costs will increase significantly. What will we do when the cost of heating and cooling our homes triples? We could just live in houses that are 1/3 the size...or we can build more efficient homes. We can't truly be Green until we focus on energy.
Consider the benefits of a truly Green home...
- It's more energy efficient It saves significantly more energy (heating and air-conditioning) usage.
It's more durable It controls water, heat & ultraviolet light.
It's more comfortable It's a tight enclosure with efficient windows, good insulation and smart air movement.
